Ask me anything

"[A]nd carrying rather an appearance of Figment and Invention, in those that handed down the memory of it, than of Truth and Reality"

Gardening Lessons

1) Label your tiny plants.  We had started two corn, two zucchini, and two watermelon plants.  Nothing has come up yet, but they were outside getting some sun, in groups of two, when the wind picked up and blew them all over the place.  Two of them had the dirt blown completely out of them, but I don’t know what to replant, because their tidy little groups were all messed up!  I guess we’ll wait for them to sprout, and see if we can figure it out from there.  I don’t really think I want to go digging in the pots to find the seeds.

The wind also blew our birdfeeder right out of the ground.  I need to get some grass growing, so that there is some root system to hold the soil in place instead of just loose, loose dirt.

Tonight’s episode of Warehouse 13 takes place in Ithaca. Watching close to see if it was filmed on location!

To close out Girl Scout week, Tala’s Daisy troop took a field trip to Build-A-Bear workshop, because they have a 100th Anniversary bear.

That isn’t Tala’s bear, but it is a representative example.

She had a lot of fun.  They weren’t able to get the uniforms, however, because Build-A-Bear in no way properly anticipated the demand for the bears or the uniforms.

There was a Mall of America 100th Birthday Lock-In last weekend, and Build-A-Bear only sent 2500 bears to the shop in Mall of America.  There were 50,000 Girl Scouts there.

She loves her bear, though, even naked, and named it Savannah.

The total cost for the bears, if anyone is interested in putting in an order and waiting, including uniforms, is only about $40.  Not at all bad for a Build-A-Bear.

But now, this face mask is ready to come off, so I am going to shower.

When making One True Cookies at high altitude, you can use all butter, and they come out like you use half butter, half margarine.
